MUKILTEO - Start stocking up on reusable bags now – Mukilteo City Council voted unanimously on Monday to ban plastic bags in the city.

Seattle Resident Katrina Rosen, representing the group Environment Washington, which advocates for a statewide ban on plastic bags, said the ban should reduce pollution and help prevent bags from ending up in the belly of a whale, like one found dead last year on a beach in Seattle.

“If we can get rid of these single use plastic bags, we’ll actually have a really significant impact on protecting the Puget Sound wildlife."
