Ask Your Reps. To Take Action On Clean Energy

We can harness this spirit of innovation by turning away from our dirty, dangerous energy past – coal, oil, and gas – and toward a new energy future of clean, renewable sources of energy such as wind and solar.

Our representatives in congress have the chance to take this important step by co-sponsoring a federal renewable energy standard which requires that 20% of our energy comes from renewable sources by the year 2020.  Ask your representative to step away from the energy past and toward a new energy future.

To deliver on the promise of a new energy future, I urge you to cosponsor the Federal Renewable Energy Portfolio Standard Act (HR 969) introduced by Representatives Tom Udall and Todd Platts. This bill will increase our use of homegrown renewable resources like wind, solar, geothermal, and biomass by requiring 20 percent of electricity production to come from these sources by 2020. Increasing our use of renewable energy is critical to reducing global warming pollution, and making our environment and our economy more secure.
